Members of the National Hamster Council are eligible to register a prefix under which they can exhibit and breed hamsters following one year of membership and although we’re not at that stage yet, we have been thinking about our prefix. Whilst we began as Fluffagrams, this wasn’t a name that I’d wanted to use for exhibition purposes so I started to think of ideas. The first name that I’d chosen was Aquae Sulis which was the name that the City of Bath was known as in the Roman times and we provisionally branded our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram pages with that name. Unfortunately we discovered that a well established member of the hamster community used that as a prefix for 20 years and so to avoid confusion it would be best to consider something else.

As several of our hamsters have been named after musicians we decided to go along that theme and so Metallica Hamstery was born.
